What are Triggers?

In Hawk, Triggers are sent from the client that capture specific player actions (e.g., app installs, game completions, payments). These triggers help populate system attributes automatically. No manual computation is required from the client side.

There are two types of triggers in Hawk:

  • System Triggers: Sent by the client to signal predefined actions. These populate built-in attributes automatically.

  • Custom Triggers: Used for configuring personal offers, pop-ups, and campaigns.

Configuring Triggers

In this section, you will learn to configure triggers.
When configuring triggers, it's essential to define parameters like name, trigger type, and key.

You can define and manage both System and Custom Triggers directly in the Hawk dashboard.

These triggers enable the system to track user actions and populate attributes accordingly.

How to Add a New Trigger

  • From the left sidebar menu, expand the Segmentation section and click Triggers.

  • Click on [+Add Trigger].

  • Fill in the Trigger Details:
Name : Enter a descriptive name for the trigger.
Trigger Type : Select from the dropdown. Options include:

See the table for the list of available System Triggers.

Key : This is the unique identifier used by the client to send the trigger.

  • Add Arguments (if needed).

  • Click + Add Key to define key-value arguments expected with this trigger.

  • Click Save.

What Happens to Arguments for System Triggers

  • Arguments are auto-filled by the system after you select a system trigger and click Save.

  • Initially, it shows:

  • Once saved, Hawk automatically associates the required attributes and arguments (you don’t have to define them manually).

Your new trigger will now appear in the list with ID, name, key, type, and timestamp.
